Do you know what is and what is not covered on your homeowner’s policy?
Here are some questions for everyone.
Do you know what is covered on a homeowners policy for water backup and what is not covered?
When a toilet or shower drain is clogging & overflows, is that covered?

What about when the sewer line in street that backs up and causes the overflow, is that covered?
What about when the water escapes, overflows or discharges from a sump pump, sump well or other system designed to remove water?
The answer to the first one is “yes” it is covered when a toilet or shower gets clogged and overflows and causes damage.   The other two questions are normally not covered on a homeowner’s policy unless there is an endorsement that covers water back up.   Normally water that backs up through the sewers or drains that originate on premise is covered on a homeowners policy.   Check out my website & blogs to see for more information.
